Meet Our Designers - Jessica Salinas
If you’re in the market for new homes for sale in Birmingham or Auburn, you’ll likely be looking at a variety of different new home builders. As a builder in both markets, one of Harris Doyle’s key differentiators is our unique design process. We proudly offer in-depth, customizable interior design services for our new homeowners. Once under contract, each homeowner is paired with one of our designers to design the house of their dreams! The design process is one of the most fun and enjoyable parts of building a new home. Our designers love helping new homeowners make their visions a realty. During the course of the homebuying process, you will be working closely with one of our talented designers. Look at our blog to get to know them before your first design meeting. This week, we’ll be featuring our extra fun and creative designer, Jessica Salinas!
I graduated from The University of North Alabama with an Interior Architecture and Design Degree with a minor in Fine Art and Space Planning.
All my life I’ve enjoyed textiles and art, creating a unique personal space. When I was a few years into college, I realized that I could make my passion a career choice.
3. What makes you excited about being an interior designer?
Someone’s home is the one of most important investments and emotional touchstones. Helping people to create a beautiful, functional space is rewarding and fun!
4. What is the most rewarding part of being an interior designer at Harris Doyle?
Seeing my clients dreams and my creative input come to fruition.
Do not follow the most current trends blindly. Make choices that are timeless and save the super trendy for textiles and other replaceable home furnishings.
6. Tell us about your favorite Harris Doyle floor plan and why?
My favorite plan has to be the Millbrook A. The natural stone on the front of the house reminds me of a European cottage. It’s quaint and functional.
My family is from the Philippines and all my aunts and uncles immigrated from there to the United States. Most of them now live in Hawaii and California. I have an extremely hard-working sister and a hilarious younger brother. I grew up in a soccer family, playing and traveling to tournaments. My fiancé's family is artistic and love food and travel. I enjoy the contrast! My fiancé, Cameron and I have a huge, silly chocolate labradoodle named Rigby.
I enjoy hiking, camping/back-packing and bike riding. I am most at peace when painting or working on small watercolor sketches for the journals I craft. I regularly stop into a Birmingham antique store and plant store, because I love searching for old wooden furniture, original art pieces, and I enjoy adding plants to my work and home spaces. Of course, I’m a sucker for rearranging my furniture and decor!
