Our Story

Harris Doyle Homes is a leading residential developer and new home builder in the Auburn, Birmingham, Pike Road, Panama City, FL and Baldwin County areas. Harris Doyle is widely recognized for its energized and progressive team that works diligently to provide a high level of new construction home service to its customers. We specialize in designing and constructing new homes and neighborhoods that fit the unique lifestyles of a diverse customer base. Harris Doyle is a member of Clayton Properties Group, a Berkshire Hathaway Company.

Brooks Harris and Russ Doyle are both second-generation homebuilders born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Brooks began his homebuilding career in 2004 by starting Longleaf Homes, Inc. Russ Doyle founded his own company, Fireside Homes in 2005 after working for his father’s homebuilding company. Both Longleaf Homes and Fireside Homes worked side by side on projects in Pelham, Alabama's Ballantrae neighborhood, completing a combined total of approximately 60 new homes there.

Brooks Harris and Russ Doyle founded Harris Doyle Homes together in 2008. Since that time, Harris Doyle Homes has grown to be one of Birmingham’s largest homebuilders, building over 1,800 homes in 26 communities across Alabama and the Gulf Coast. The company was named builder of the year in 2010 and has been consistently ranked as a Top Five Homebuilder by the Birmingham Business Journal since 2013 in addition to being named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s Fast Track 30. 

In June 2017, Harris Doyle Homes joined Clayton Properties Group, a division of Clayton Homes, and a Berkshire Hathaway Company. Harris Doyle is headquartered in Birmingham, AL with divisions Auburn and Panama City.

Choose Your Dream Community and Floor Plan

To begin your new home journey, you will start with selecting a community. We make it easy to meet with a member of our sales team, who will walk you through the process of narrowing down which communities and floor plans best fit your family’s needs. We have agents on-site Saturday - Wednesday at the community model homes, making it easy to schedule community visits and home tours. Once you select your community, lot, plan, and structural options, it’s time to sign the contract. At the contract signing, your sales agent will walk you through a process overview to confirm the details of your lot, plan, financing, etc.

Finance Your New Home

Before you start selecting design finishes, you’ll need to meet a mortgage lender to learn about your financing options, establish a budget and get pre-qualified for a mortgage. We understand that this is not only a big financial commitment but also a large emotional commitment. While we accept pre-approvals from any lender of your choice, we do have a preferred lender - Silverton Mortgage. When you use Silverton to finance your home, you may receive up to $2,500 toward your closing costs, making your transition to your new home that much smoother.

Meet with Your Harris Doyle Designer

After contracts are signed and financing is underway, you’ll start the design process. One of the most exciting and fun aspects of your new home’s building process is typically the design meeting. During this meeting, you’ll meet with one of our three designers to select the layout and design of your future Harris Doyle Home. From light fixtures to kitchen cabinets, there are many important decisions you will need to make during this meeting. Design meetings happen before construction begins and can vary by community. Our designers will ensure you spend adequate time picking out the perfect features for your new home. The more prepared you can be for the meeting, the better.

Pre-Construction Meeting

At this meeting you’ll meet your Personal Builder and review the home plans, as well as what to expect throughout construction of your new home. Shortly thereafter, foundations will begin.

Framing Walkthrough

You will meet with your Personal Builder at your home for an opportunity to review the installation of your options and selections. Framing will be completed, but the sheetrock will not be installed, so you’ll view the exterior, layout and the initial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. Your Builder will conduct the tour and use this time to answer any questions.

New Homeowner Orientation

During New Homeowner Orientation you’ll tour your new home to confirm the installation of selections and condition of cosmetic surfaces. You will also use this time to get tips on care and maintenance, as well as review the Harris Doyle Homes Warranty Agreement.

Final Walkthrough

At this meeting which takes place one day before closing, we will celebrate the delivery of a 100% completed home to you. If any items were noted for repair at the New Home Orientation, this is the opportunity to ensure all work is completed to your satisfaction. The goal of this meeting is to ensure you go to closing a 100% satisfied Harris Doyle Homes homeowner.

Closing

Prior to closing, the attorney will provide you details regarding dates, times, and the funds needed to close. At closing you will be provided with your keys and you will be a Harris Doyle homeowner. Congratulations!
