Easter Festivities in Birmingham and Auburn
Easter weekend is upon us, officially welcoming Spring to the Birmingham and Auburn areas! With spring in full force in Alabama, everyone seems to have a little extra spring in their step when they’re out and about enjoying the beautiful weather. In preparation for the fun weekend ahead, we’ve developed a list of Easter activities going around the Birmingham and Auburn areas. From Easter egg hunts to posing with the Easter bunny himself, you’re sure to have a fun-filled weekend no matter how you crack it!
Birmingham Easter Eggtivities
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Eggstravangaza
The beloved Birmingham Zoo will be hosting two Easter events this year on Saturday, March 31. The Zoo will be cooking up a delicious scramble egg and sausage breakfast with orange juice and coffee at the Kudzoo Cafe with the Easter bunny from 7:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Following breakfast is the Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt, Birmingham’s largest Easter egg hunt. There will even be an adult hunt for those of us who still like to find eggs of gold!
- 10 am - 10:30 am: Five years old and younger
- 11 am - 11:30 am: Six to 12 years
- 11:45 am Adults: $20 entry fee
- 12:30 pm – 1 pm: Five years old and younger
- 1:30 p.m. – 2 pm: Six years old to 12
Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market
Oak Mountain is hosting its 11th annual Easter Egg Hunt and Spring market on March 31 from 10 am - 4 pm. The market will feature local craftsman, artists, local boutiques, delicious bakeries and food trucks all equipped with Easter delights! Attendees will also have a chance to enjoy hayrides, yard games and pony rides. You may even spot the Easter bunny hopping around throughout the day! Easter egg hunts will be going on throughout the day. Here is a timeline of the hunts:
- 10:30 am: Four years and under
- 11 am: Five to 12 years old
- 11:30 am: Four years and under
- 12 pm: Five to 12 years old
- 12:30 pm: Four years and under
- 1 pm: Five to 12 years old
- 1:30 pm: Four years and under
- 2 pm: Five to 12 years old
- 2:30 pm: Four years and under
- 3 pm: Five to 12 years old
The Galleria’s Easter Bunny
Meet the Easter Bunny at the Galleria this weekend! Pose with your children for adorable springtime pictures from now until March 31 and receive one photo for free. The Easter Bunny will be at the Galleria’s Lower Level in Belk’s Men Court. Skip long lines by reserving your spot in line.
The Great McWane Egg Drop at McWane Science Center
The McWane Science Center has a full day of fun demonstrations planned for egg enthusiasts starting at 10:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the day until 4 p.m.
Auburn Easter Eggtivities
37th Annual East Egg Hunt
On Saturday, March 31, Wells Fargo and Auburn Parks and Recreation is hosting its 37th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Kiesel Park. This hunt is Auburn’s largest Easter egg hunt with over 35,000 hidden eggs! There are four age groups who can participate including ages three and under, four to six, seven to nine and 10 to 12. Children have the opportunity to win prizes and Easter toys!
- Three and under age group: 10:30 a.m.
- Four to six age group: 10:45 a.m.
- Seven to nine age group: 11 a.m.
- 10 - 12 age group: 11:15 a.m.
Opelika Parks & Recreation Easter on the Square
On Saturday, March 31, from 10 – 11 a.m., join Opelika Parks and Recreation for a fun filled morning of egg festivities! Starting at 10 a.m., there will be Easter “egg-tivities,” followed by an Easter bonnet content at 10:40 a.m., an Easter parade at 10:45 a.m. and then an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m.!
Underwater Egg Hunt
An Easter egg hunt underwater! Children between the ages of six and 10 can collect weighted eggs from the bottom of the pool at Opelika SportsPlex on Friday, March 30, from 6 – 8 p.m. Weighted Easter eggs will be dropped into different depths of water to allow for different levels of participation based on swimming levels.
