A Season of Service – How Harris Doyle Homes Made a Difference This Holiday Season
For many companies, charitable giving is a core part of their mission. They believe in giving back to the community that has helped them succeed while feeling like they’ve accomplished something worthwhile with their lives. Here at Harris Doyle, we believe in assisting people in need, making an impact in society, and leading our employees to volunteer.
One thing that sets Harris Doyle Homes apart from other new home builders in the Birmingham area, is our commitment to giving back to the community – especially during the holiday season. The holidays are a great time for families to get together and enjoy each other’s company, but it’s also a wonderful time for people who are less fortunate to feel like they’re not alone during the celebrations. We were able to help out this time of year by donating our time and means to three charities in the Birmingham area: Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama, The Lovelady Center, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA)
Our donation journey started during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October of 2022.We are no strangers to donating a fraction of our proceeds from our new construction home closings, but this month was different. A portion of October’s closings went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) to benefit women and men in our home state.
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama was established in 1996 by two breast cancer survivors that wanted to battle the horrible disease. To this day, the mission has been to discover a cure for breast cancer by financing research in Alabama and to increasing public knowledge. The goals are clear: to collect grant dollars, employ researchers, and capture innovative discoveries.

The Lovelady Center
The next act of giving was centered around The Lovelady Center in downtown Birmingham. Not only did we support a local charity, but our team worked together while shopping for donations. It brought so much joy to the men and women that strolled the aisle of Target to find the perfect clothing, electronics, and essentials for those less fortunate during Christmas time. Once everything was purchased, our team delivered the gifts to The Lovelady Center where they got to meet several Loveladies and place it all under the tree.
The Lovelady Center is a faith-centered, non-denominational housing facility devoted to inspiring youthful ladies in need. The center offers housing, meals, daycare, and a range of recovery services, featuring health care and substance abuse treatment that is state-certified.
If you feel the lead to help, here are a few ways to support The Lovelady Center:
Donate – You can contribute any sum on the Lovelady Center’s website with the opportunity to make the gift reoccurring. You can additionally give things to the Lovelady Center Thrift Store where the earnings will be presented to the center.
Shop – The Lovelady Center Thrift Store is an awesome store to shop for a bigger cause. There are two spots to pick from, Irondale and Clay. As an incentive, the Loveladies work in the thrift stores and obtain personal guidance that prepares them for new opportunities in the future.
Volunteer – If you would like to get involved, please volunteer on their website. There are several unique programs and occasions to choose from so you can discover the proper spot for you. Easter basket stuffing, makeup drive, and purses with a purpose are a few options.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
Additionally, Harris Doyle hosted a build day in our parking lot to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Our team members had the opportunity to work at different stations that represented a different phase in the building process. Some stained while others sanded, which allowed everyone to choose the step that fit their strengths. At the end of the day, Harris Doyle Homes and Sleep in Heavenly Peace built 47 beds in total. Not only did we get to help children in need, but the team got to bond while doing so.
Every child is worthy of a secure, cozy spot to rest their head. Across the United States, numerous girls and boys are without a bed, pillow, or comforter. These kids are forced to sleep on blankets, couches, and sometimes…even floors. Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s mission is to recruit volunteers, build and assemble beds, and deliver a new place to sleep to families and children that are deserving.
