Building 13 homes in only seven days may sound like something you would only see on a television show, but Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham, along with 12 local builders and six area sponsors, made this amazing feat a reality. Harris Doyle Homes is proud to be among the 2014 Alabama home builders, participating in the builders blitz for its sixth year in a row.
Although the tight schedule can be challenging, for the Harris Doyle team, the builders blitz is always a win-win. We have the opportunity to work together and do what we are passionate about—build a quality home— while making a big difference for a family who has the dream of homeownership, but needs a little assistance.
As stated in a press release on the Birmingham Habitat website, “Partner families qualify for Habitat’s homeownership program through a demonstrated need for an affordable housing solution, having the ability to repay a no-interest mortgage, and the willingness to complete required educational workshops and invest 300 hours of sweat equity. “
On Thursday, May 8, we had the privilege of passing the keys of a newly built home to Ashley Robinson and her two-year-old daughter, Mari. Their new home features a three bedroom, two bathroom layout and is EnergyStar certified. We wish them the best of luck and hope they will make many happy memories in their new home!
