Former NFL placekicker and current radio sports personality Al DelGreco is no stranger to the new home construction process. Having previously built two new homes in his lifetime, he knew exactly what we has looking for and what he expected when he decided to downsize. After searching online, visiting our website and touring our model home, he fell in love with The Cotswolds’ Birmingham homes and “knew that was where [he] needed to live.”
Before making the big decision, Al made sure to thoroughly scout out his options. When touring the model home, he asked our sales agents about the company’s background, and then he went online to see what comments other people had made. The one thing that stood out was that almost every comment included something about the reliability of Harris Doyle Homes and the quality of our workmanship.
Al also loved the area. Even having lived in Birmingham since 1994, he didn’t know anything about this part of town. He did know though, that he wanted to be close to Hwy 280 and The Summit, and he enjoys living on a nice and quiet cul-de-sac which doesn’t get a lot of traffic.
However, for him, “what stood out most to me was the floor plan. I’m big into living areas and kitchens. Throw in the bedrooms, bathrooms and master suite, and this was the perfect situation.”
He says, “the brick wall in this home was what attracted me first, but the kitchen was what sold me.”
Al’s experience designing the home was also pleasant. Being a man, he wasn’t sure if he could trust his design choices, such as the pebble floor in the master bathroom shower, granite kitchen countertops and two tones of paint on the ceiling and wall, but the design department helped him along the way. And, now everybody he has had over to his new home “absolutely loves it.”
Whether you’re a newlywed looking for your first Birmingham new home, a family looking for a quiet neighborhood or a current homeowner looking to downsize, Al says you couldn’t score a better community than The Cotswolds. You’ll get a fair price for a high quality home, and you’ll benefit from being far enough away from the hustle and bustle living in a great neighborhood with friendly people.
