So, if you are looking to celebrate with fireworks or live music or even red river hogs, metro Birmingham has the event for you.
At Harris & Doyle Homes we have compiled a list of some of the more popular events going on throughout metro Birmingham. Celebrations include:
• Thunder on the Mountain: Thunder on the Mountain is one of the largest, most extravagant Independence Day firework displays in the state of Alabama. Launched from the park grounds of Vulcan Park and Museum, prime viewing locations include Five Points South, Homewood, Vestavia, Mountain Brook and UAB campus. The fireworks are expected to begin at 9 p.m. and last for approximately 20 minutes. The show has been choreographed to a mixture of patriotic favorites and popular musical performances with local radio stations broadcasting the musical soundtrack.
• Freedom Fest: Residents of Hoover, Ala. homes are invited to stop by Freedom Fest at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium this Fourth of July. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will feature a car show, live music and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The best part about this event is that it is FREE. So, pack up some food and grab your blankets or chairs for this family-friendly event.
• Fourth of July at the Zoo: The Birmingham Zoo invites residents to celebrate Independence Day with the animals. In addition to the normal exhibits, visitors to the Zoo are invited to celebrate the seventh birthday of Star, Spangle and Banner, the Zoo’s red river hogs. The celebration will take place at 2 p.m. on July 6 as the red river hogs enjoy enrichment and red, white and blue ice treats. In honor of our nation’s birthday, all active and retired military and their dependents receive free admission to the Zoo July 4-7, 2013.
• Trussville Freedom Celebration: From rides and inflatables to live music and fireworks, the Trussville Freedom Celebration has something for everyone this Fourth of July. Located on the Mall in historic downtown Trussville, Freedom Celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with Act of Congress taking the stage at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m. the dark sky will light up as fireworks are launched into the air. In addition to the fun, local vendors will be on site providing several food options from hotdogs to BBQ.
