Family Friendly Fall Events in Birmingham, Alabama
Fall has officially begun, and the State of Alabama is in full swing. Cooler temperatures, leaves changing, football, pumpkin patches, and various fall-themed family events are starting to pop up across the state. Take a look below and mark your calendars for some great events that will surely satisfy the whole family!
Taste of Hoover October 5th 5:00 p.m. Aldridge Gardens
Families can expect to enjoy an autumn evening in Hoover strolling through the Gardens and sampling delicious dishes from some of Hoover's best restaurants, caterers, and more. Plus, families will have the opportunity to taste assorted beverages and soft drinks while listening to live entertainment. Tickets are $50 and Kids 12 and under get in free.
Alabama Butterbean Festival October 6th (6:00 p.m.) -7th (8:00 a.m.) Downtown Pinson, Main Street
Families can enjoy a night (or morning) of great food, fun arts and crafts, and entertainment set to last throughout the whole event. There will even be a carnival and a 5k run sponsored by Alabama Butterbean as well. Admission is free, just another reason to stop by during this awesome event.
Barber Vintage Festival October 6th-8th All Day Barber Motorsports Park
During this event, families will have a full day of watching races, seeing vintage motorcycles, meeting and attending autograph sessions with the drivers, watching the Barbers’ Parade, and even attend a concert for the night capper. If you or maybe a kid in the family is a car/motorcycle enthusiast, this is the event for you. General admission tickets range $30-$65, $40 for a parade lap, and $70-$130 for camping if you wish to stay both nights.
Bluff Park Art Show October 7th 9:00 a.m. Bluff Park Community Park
Maybe you or someone in your family is more of an artist or art is a bigger passion for you. If that’s the case, this show would be perfect. This event has been voted “Best Community Event” for three out of the last four years. Admission is free and there will be arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, food, children’s activities, and so much more.
Harvest Festival at Oak Mountain State Park October 14th 9:00 a.m. Oak Mountain State Park
This festival is perfect for the family and will have something for everybody. Hayrides, inflatables, shopping with local artists, food trucks, pony rides, and even wildlife will be there to meet/pet/feed. Oak Mountain State Park is also home to playgrounds, bike trails, horseback rides, archery, golf, lakes, and much more. Ages 3 and under are free, while ages 4-11 are $2, ages 12-61 are $5, and ages 62+ are $2.
Painting Pumpkins in the Park at Pelham City Park October 15th 2:00 p.m. Pelham City Park
Come enjoy the outdoors and fresh fall air while families paint and decorate their own tiny pumpkin. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Painting sessions will last around 30 minutes. All supplies are included, and space is limited. Admission is free for this event.
Franks N’ Steins at Cahaba Brewing Company October 28th 12:00 p.m. Cahaba Brewing Company
This event will prove to be fun for the entire family. From costume contests to stein hoisting and hot dog eating competitions, there will be fun and laughs all day. Bring the family to enjoy trick or treating, antique fire trucks, live music, a bounce house, and more as all money raised will go towards Libby’s Friends, a non-profit that aims to ease the financial burden for families living with a disability. Admission cost has not been announced for this event.
Dia De Los Muertos November 2nd-3rd 4:00 p.m. Sloss Furnaces
This unique festival is inspired by past traditions in Mexico, paying tribute to loved ones who have passed. This event is hosted by the nonprofit organization Bare Hands Inc. There will be commemorative altars, art, memorial roll call, food trucks, a beer garden, music, and more. Cost of admission has not been announced at this time.
Mt. Laurel Fall Festival November 4th 9:00 a.m. Mt. Laurel Town Center
This is a great opportunity to get the family together and head out to the community of Mt. Laurel. Families can look around at the Farmer’s Market while the kids play on the inflatables. There will also be great food trucks, live music, and a craft fair. Admission is free for this event, just another reason to stop by and attend this wonderful event.
Moss Rock Festival November 4th-5th Sat. 10:00 a.m. & Sun. 10:00 a.m. Hoover Met Complex
This is an awesome event where the city of Hoover comes together for a day that is all about art, design, nature, and smart living. There will be live music, a beer garden, food vendors, tips for environmental living and so much more. Tickets are $11 for two-day admission. Beer garden tickets are $35.
Magic City Mac & Cheese Festival November 12th 1:00 p.m. Back Forty Beer Company
Calling on macaroni and cheese lovers. This event is perfect for anyone who loves mac and cheese and wants to sample macaroni from all across Birmingham. There will be food from Birmingham restaurants, food trucks, caterers, corporate teams, and home chefs. There will also be music, children’s activities, other food, and beverages. Tickets are $15. All proceeds benefit Community Grief Support.
