Thunder on the Mountain: Thunder on the Mountain has been one of Alabama’s number one Independence Day celebrations for years. This free fireworks show will be set off in Vulcan Park at 9 p.m. The show will be choreographed to patriotic and popular music, and will run for 20 minutes. For the best viewing experience, get a spot with a view of Vulcan.

Peavine Falls Run: Kick the day in gear with a holiday race in Oak Mountain State Park! The Peavine Falls Run features an 8.2 mile out-and-back scenic run. The race starts at the Dogwood Pavilion and runs to the Peavine Falls Parking lot and back. Start time is at 7 a.m., and can be registered for on http://raceit.com/!

UAB Independence Day Concert: The University of Alabama Birmingham will be celebrating the Fourth of July with their annual Independence Day concert by the UAB Summer Band. Held on the Bartow Arena lawn, attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and a picnic to enjoy this free concert. The show will run from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., and a fireworks display will go on at 9 p.m.

Jazz in the Park: Celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with some live music in Railroad Park! Put on by Magic City Smooth Jazz, the free concert will feature jazz musicians Sonja Hopkins and Justin Klunk. The music starts at 6 p.m., and guests are encouraged to bring blankets, coolers, food and lawn chairs to enjoy the concert.

Fireworks at Oak Mountain: As a part of Alabama State Parks 75th Anniversary, Oak Mountain State Park is hosting a Fourth of July celebration. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. on July 3 with live music and catering from Johnny Rays and McAlister’s. Flip Side Watersports will be putting on a wakeboarding demonstration at 7 p.m., and fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
