School may be back in session, but that doesn’t mean that summer fun is over! Exciting things are happening in and around the great city of Birmingham in the coming weeks, with many events and festivals hosted near Harris Doyle Homes’ new home communities.
Here are just a few of the fun upcoming events that residents can look forward to attending:
- Birmingham Restaurant Week is just heating up, offering fantastic dishes and incentives throughout the city from now until Sunday, Aug. 24. Residents can look forward to revisiting their favorite local hot spots and also exploring new venues that have recently opened. Prices for two and three course prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus range from $5 to $30 dollars per person. Kid-friendly options will also be available at many of the participating restaurants.
- The 16th annual Sidewalk Film Festival will be opening on Friday, Aug. 22 at the Alabama Theatre and will be showcasing films all over Birmingham through Sunday, Aug. 24. Aside from a weekend packed with critically acclaimed shorts, documentaries, and narratives in theaters across the city, movie-loving attendees with VIP tickets can look forward to celebrating the 16th birthday of the Sidewalk Film Festival at the Super Sweet 16 Saturday Bash, which will include pizza, ice cream and a screening of the classic film, Sixteen Candles. Not sure which films to see? Check out these six suggestions from entertainment writer Jeremy Burgess on AL.com.
- For the past two years, Artwalk has attracted more than 10,000 people to the streets of downtown Birmingham to check out the work of 100 local artists, live musicians and street performers. This colorful street festival will be held September 5 through 6 and will have family-friendly activities and a variety of food and drink vendors. Art lovers will be able to purchase original work across all mediums and price points from talented local artists. Artwalk is FREE to the public and is definitely an event you don’t want to miss!
