Monroe Street in Montgomery by Chris PruittWhen it comes to purchasing a new home, employment and income are huge factors in the decision process. For Alabama residents, there is great news! Per capita income has increased year-over-year, not only in the State of Alabama, but also Montgomery and Birmingham, just minutes from our new home communities!

From 2012 to 2013, per capita income in Alabama grew 1.5 percent which is above the national increase of 1.3 percent. While the average per capita income in Alabama is still below the national average, it shows that the economy in Alabama is improving.

The Montgomery metro area showed the most significant per capita income increase and grew 1.9 percent in 2013, while metro Birmingham saw an increase of 1.1 percent.

What this means for residents of homes in metro Montgomery and Birmingham is that the economy is stabilizing, jobs are increasing and so are the salaries. The real estate industry has also benefited from all of this great news as new home starts and home sales continue to rise.
